To be honest, we were completely overwhelmed when it came time to choose a memorial for our father. Naturally, he was special to us, but he lived a very full life and was loved and respected by many. We did not know how to possibly say the right words.
My sister and brothers both had their unique thoughts of what they wanted to capture, and our mother had her own special feelings which she wanted to express.
When we saw a bronze pictorial memorial, we realised immediately that it was perfect for our family. We all knew that the pictures would tell their own stories.
Our father was a handsome and proud Marine. He met our mother early in life and they shared a wonderful marriage for over 50 years. We were able to capture the chapters of their lives as they married, then grew together in his working years and finally in their retirement. The professional artists added a wooded setting to the background, which brought it all together for us. Dad loved the outdoors and came from northern Minnesota, and it just seemed to blend it perfectly. I go to his burial site occasionally and I love to sit and have my personal thoughts of our time together. It is interesting to note that I don’t even have to visit the site to see his memorial. Whenever I think of dad, I have his memorial there with me in my thoughts and the comfort that I get from it is simply beyond what I ever could have imagined. -Ken March
